About Us

WHY WE DO:

Born out of a desire to offer the best and most effective no nonsense fitness experience in its purest form, McCallister Fitness and Functional Movement exists to help everyone feel better, move better, perform better, and be better. Our watchwords are Compassion, Integrity, Tenacity, and Humility.

Flexibility, Mobility, Strength, and Power is our fitness mantra.

Flexibility – the ability to stretch a muscle without tearing it
Mobility – the ability to move freely and easily through a series of motions
Strength – the ability to do more work
Power – the capacity to use strength effectively

WHAT WE DO:
The process begins with an intake interview designed to understand the client. Next, we perform a movement screen to identify dysfunctional movement patterns. Finally, we use all this information to create a personalized program.

Our approach includes myofascial release (MFR), Active Isolated Stretching (AIS), and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching to improve both active and passive range of motion (ROM) and increase flexibility, a corrective exercise protocol to obtain greater mobility, freedom of movement and reduce the risk of injury, and a systematic resistance training regimen designed improve strength and overall fitness.

HOW WE DO:
Myofascial Release (MFR) – soft tissue therapy that addresses muscular immobility by relaxing contracted muscles, stimulating underactive muscles, and improving blood flow and lymphatic circulation.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) Stretching – a set of stretches originally developed for rehabilitation that uses autogenic inhibition which relaxes a muscle after a sustained contraction

Range of Motion (ROM) – the amount of movement of a joint
Active ROM -  the ROM of a joint when you move it
Passive ROM – the ROM of a joint when it is moved for you by someone else

WHAT WE OFFER:

Meet Bill

Hello, my name is Bill McCallister and I like rainy days, long walks on the beach, the colors red and blue, and… wait what? This isn’t THAT kind of introduction? Please forgive me, I’ll begin again.

Hi, I’m Bill McCallister, half man half amazing. When I combine my super powers with those of my wife, we form Voltron…I mean, McCallister Fitness and Functional Movement…Defender of the univer…I mean, the best fitness and corrective exercise unit in da bid’ness! My entire life has been dedicated to the assistance of others in one way or another, even while chasing other career aspirations. I didn’t realize that health and fitness was my calling until 2002; even while spending 12 years training people for free. So, for the last 15 years, Personal Trainer has been my official profession. Since my first certification, AFAA CPT in 2002, I have expanded my knowledge to include certifications like Sports Fitness Specialist, Integrated Flexibility Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist, and Program Design Specialist (now that’s a whole lot of special-ist!). I love solving the puzzle of the human body, so I spend most of my work time performing Myofascial Release or guiding Corrective Exercise protocols.

When I’m not at the studio enjoying the company of our incredible clients, I’m spending time with the world’s most amazing family. They are the silliest, most entertaining, loving, and infuriating group you will ever come across. They are, without question, the greatest collection of sass and personality I have encountered, and I love them all immensely.

Meet Kerin

Kerin

Hi! I’m Kerin McCallister, one of the dynamic duo that makes up McCallister Fitness. It took me many years to discover my passion for helping people could take on a new face and manifestation. After years of educating others in a classroom as their teacher I discovered coaching clients toward their goals and physical betterment by their side, as their personal trainer, was more fulfilling and a lot more fun!

I spent my life being broken and attempting to find a way to be whole and live a mobile, active life. It took me until the age of 39 to achieve that goal and then I was off and running to pay that gift forward. Three years in and I feel as if I’ve done this my whole life. I’m not only a certified Personal Trainer, I specialize in Corrective Exercise which means I help people identify the imbalances and improper movement patterns they currently live with and then reteach their bodies to a proper balance and mobility.

When I’m not at the studio with our amazing clients, I’m being part of our parenting dynamic duo balancing our three children’s activities and events. I enjoy relaxing (as rare as that time is) with Bill and our kids at home playing games or watching a movie together.
